About Us.

Established In 1992.

Wainscot House Day Nursery was established in 1992.

Founded by a local mother, The Proprietor, Julie Prowse, realised that there was a demand for exceptional childcare facilities for working parents, where the care and attention of each individual child has always remained uncompromised.

It is located across two buildings, our Under 3 year olds in the main Victorian house and our 3-5 year olds in our purpose-built pre-school Woodland Class, both buildings especially converted, with a garden and play area. Easy access from our pre-school to the garden supports and strengthens rich varied opportunities for learning within the natural environment.

Wainscot House is located in a prominent position in the very centre of St. Albans, a short walk from the town centre and City and Abbey train stations. We also have a car park, which is easily accessible from the main road.

A Stimulating And Caring Environment.

Our Day Nursery provides a stimulating and caring environment, which will enhance the growth and development of your child. All children come to nursery with a different ‘cultural capital’ and by working with your child’s starting points, we aim to intrinsically motivate and support your child to achieve their full potential.

Our highly trained Early Years Practitioners come with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Our early years staff have a passion for working with young children and take time and commitment in empowering each and every child to think, listen and reflect and treat others with concern and respect, core values for life-long learning.

All activities are designed to create an interesting atmosphere, to nurture a child’s awe and wonder

and inspire a child’s sense of delight, allowing your child to develop self-confidence and learn at his or her own pace. A mixture of individual and group activities are offered, which are carefully selected to encourage your child’s all-round progression.

At the same time, the safety and security of the children is paramount and one of our main priorities; it is a responsibility we take very seriously indeed.
