A Typical Day In Baby Room One

Daily Activities & Timings For Children In Baby Room One

08:00 - 09:00

Breakfast and child initiated play

Breakfast is provided to all children between 0800 - 0900 daily. You can see a typical breakfast menu here and all food is prepared freshly on-site and cooked by our chef.

Child initiated play is sensory focussed with the aim of developing physical motor skills.

Toys include the home corner (play food), mirrors, blocks, musical instruments, physical play (soft play), tunnels, steps, a slide and mixture of soft and hard toys, sensory bottles and objects to look at / make sounds.

09:00 - 09:20

Garden Time

Always weather dependent, but babies will spend time in the garden, playing with our garden toys and on the garden equipment. Exploring different seasons and getting plenty of fresh air.

10:00 - 11:15

Adult - led Activities

Nappies are regularly changed (10am, 2pm and 4pm) and as and when needed in between.

Adult led activities include messy play, cornflour, paint in zip bag wallet which babies can squeeze to explore different textures. Christmas (or seasonally) related activities, hand printing, exploring shakers and musical instruments. We also have a 'black and white' to help develop skills in recognising black and white patterns. Our adult-led play aims to engage insensory play and holistic play to develop visual, fine motor and gross motor skills.

11:00 - 11:15

Music Time

Our staff will spend time singing songs and nursery rhymes with the children, encouraging them to make actions to songs, which develops memory and gross motor skills.

11:15 - 11:45

Lunch followed by nap time

A hot lunch is provided to all children daily. You can see a typical lunch menu here and all food is prepared freshly on-site and cooked by our chef.

We work with you to ensure we keep the same nap routines as your home nap routines and understand that babies often have different sleeping patterns. The baby room has a separate sleeping room to facilitate nap times.

For those babies that don't nap at this time, will then engage in child-initiated play or a focus activity.

14:00 - 15:30

Snacks and story time

15:30 - 16:15

Tea time

A hot tea is provided to all children daily. You can see a typical tea menu here and all food is prepared freshly on-site and cooked by our chef.

16:15 - Home Time

Calm activities & child initiated play

Babies will be encouraged to participate in calm activities ready to go home. These consist of child initiated play, sensory focussed and encouraging the use of physical motor skills. We have meditation music which we play to the babies to help to keep them relaxed.

Between 1400 - 1430, babies will have a home cooked snack / fruit and will be read different, engaging stories by the Baby Room One staff.
